Matt Le Tissier and Dan Wishart visits 3Twenty Aviation

3Twenty Aviation welcomed Southampton FC legend Matt Le Tissier and Sholing FC’s Dan Wishart yesterday (Tuesday 28th October), marking another exciting chapter in the company’s growing connection between aviation and sport.

From Pitch to Cockpit

Both Le Tissier and Wishart have long been associated with dedication, focus and performance under pressure, qualities that mirror the demands of professional aviation. Their visit provides an opportunity to experience the technical and immersive world of flight simulation, while discussing the parallels between sporting excellence and aviation precision.

During their time at 3Twenty Aviation, the pair took to the virtual skies in the A320 simulator, guided by our experienced instructor Graham. The session included hands-on flying, demonstrations of the Airbus A320 systems, and an inside look at the world of modern aviation.

Le Tissier began his flight from Guernsey Airport, a fitting choice, as it’s the airport of his birthplace. Once airborne, he was introduced to some of the Airbus A320’s advanced capabilities, including its Flight Protections, Auto TCAS system, and the procedures that come into play during an electrical generator fault. The Southampton FC legend then completed the experience with a landing at Southampton Airport, flying an approach directly over St Mary’s Stadium.

Wishart took to the skies from London Heathrow, one of the world’s busiest and most complex airports. After departure, he explored the handling characteristics of the A320 and gained an insight into the technology that keeps modern airliners operating safely and efficiently. Like Le Tissier, he experienced the aircraft’s Flight Protections and Auto TCAS in action before being faced with an unexpected challenge, an engine fire scenario. With Graham, he worked through the emergency procedures to extinguish the fire, until he eventually came in for a landing at Southampton Airport.

Continuing the Journey

This visit marks another milestone in 3Twenty Aviation’s partnership with Sholing FC and Dan Wishart, a collaboration built on shared values of professionalism, ambition and precision. The company looks forward to future opportunities to engage with local talent, strengthen community ties and continue promoting the connection between the skies and the sporting world.

The collaboration continues to create opportunities beyond the pitch, inspiring meaningful engagement between the aviation industry and the local community. Through experiences like this, 3Twenty Aviation aims to show how its commitment to excellence extends beyond the hangar, supporting local talent and encouraging future generations to aim higher, whether that’s in football, flying, or any other field of ambition.

As the partnership with Sholing FC and Dan Wishart continues to evolve, 3Twenty Aviation looks forward to more moments that bring people together, strengthen community ties, and celebrate the shared pursuit of progress, both on the ground and in the air.
